I recently had a th350 built to replace the fine two speed st300 that has been in my car since I bought it. While I was chatting with the owner of the transmission shop, he told me that lifters for our beloved pontiac engines are becoming somewhat scarce. According to him, two of the four major manufacturers of lifters in the USA have gone out of business. He went on to say that he saw some Chinese made lifters at a swap meet, but we both agreed that using them didn't sound like a very good idea.
As if we don't have enough problems with the decreasing levels of zinc in modern oil causing camshaft failures... Has anyone else heard anything about a lifter shortage?
