I'm swapping a freshly rebuilt set of cast iron heads onto my 400. I was wondering what do I need to do as far as lubrication of the heads before firing the motor for the first time. Do I need to do the pre-lube with the screwdriver in the drill motor through the dist. hole? Or just bolt them on and go? Thanks in advance for your help.

Bolt them on and go. By the time you get the valves adjusted you will have rolled the engine over enough to get everything lubed up.

I have always used plenty of moly or regular oil on all the springs and especially the rockers before installing the valve covers.

Dry starts are a no-no especially on the top end. Since the oil pump is already primed and not a fresh motor, I would still lube the valvetrain.
