I am installing new plastic molded door panels and when I try to fit them they dont' seem to go on. I start fitting the top and sliding them down on the door. They seem to pop off of the mold at the top. Does anyone have any pointers?
BOB, did you remove and replace the window guides when you had the old panels out? I believe the top of the panels are supposed to "slip" under them. If the guides are not in the correct position(too high?) may be your problem. Kelly
.......I just thought of something else. There are 2 kinda "C" shaped guides that are adjustable on the top/inside of the door. You can see them with the panel off. At first glance they look the same, but they aren't. One is a little bigger (the rear one I believe), than the other. If you get them mixed up, the panel will not fit right. You also have to have them adjusted so the the panel will "catch" under the "C" part. You have the inside of the door in front of you, lay the top of the panel on the door, line up the door lock with the hole in the panel, lift the bottom of the panel to where the metal plate on the top of the panel "catches" those "C" shapes guides, and let it drop. Wiggle it a bit to line up the other holes, should be good to go. If this doesn't work, may want to look into the panels themselves, aftermarket parts don't always fit as advertised. Whew! Hope that helps. Kelly
Going to give this a go tonight. If you here someone screaming, it'll be me in Mississippi. This won't be the first time the aftermarket bug has bit...
