I have a 67 with the brown and the purple wires in the steering column cut. The column is out of a 1st gen bird but not the original so I don't know what they may be cut for. Any help? Thank you, Bob
Can't help directly with the wires, but if it comes to you wanting a replacement - my sorta original black non-tilt column is for sale.
Sorta original because I found paint pen markings on it saying "68 Camaro" suggesting it is was a replacement some time ago.
Anyway, the wiring harness is intact.

Brown wire is from Emergency flasher to switch?, Purple wire is supply from blinker flasher to switch? according to schematic in 67 Firebird Service Manual. Only problem is it just shows wiring to the steering column connector not up into the column. Should be 2 center wires coming out of the column. You should be able to check this with a continuity tester.
