hi guys, pulled up my carpet today and i found a sound underlay underneth.looks like tinfoil on top and tar under.is there a easy way to remove this or is it going to be a royal pain.any help.thanks jim
You might actually want to keep that. I used a similar product on the entire floor and firewall (inside) under my carpet. It truly made a huge difference. If that stuff on your car is the product I am thinking of, you could be in for a tough time removing it...
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. It is a pain in the butt to remove. After peeling off the foil you're probably going to be stuck with sheets of tar stuck to the floorpan. You'll probably want to use a 1" putty knife and a propane torch. Gently heat the tar and it will slide off pretty well. Don't heat it too much or it'll catch fire and/or gas you out. Good luck.
how about trying a product called lizard skin? they recently displayed it on horsepower tv and ive heard good results from others on it. they used dynamat on top of it to reduce the icabin noise tremendously but i've heard its a reall sound killer!!
