I'm going to get mandrel bent exhaust system for my bird. My question is what muffler should I use for the best flow? I've heard good thing's about the hemi super turbo, but I've also been on the perf. years website and looked at the muffler's they sell and can't make up my mind on what type to get?
Best flow? By far the Dynomax or Flowmaster Delta series. There are sites on the web from independant Pontiac racers (Tom and Floyd Hand, Jim Taylor) that have tested I believe 7 different mufflers with different engine setups..Most conclusive was the Dynomax.
Have not used Dynomax, but alot of people I talk to swear by them.
Flowmaster has a complete 2 1/2" dual system with H pipe and all needed parts for $260. I use their 50 series three chamber offset inlet/outlet and dropped my 1/4 times by 4 tenths with Flows.

I went with the same flowmasters as Banshee. In addition to the performance they sound quite nice. They are not too loud that they will annoy your neighbors. But they are loud enough that when the confused "fast and furious" Honda or Mitsubishi pulls up along side they will know to leave you be.
I went with the flowmaster american thunder on my 67 conv. It is a quality product. How did you guys get the 50 series to fit, aren't they 4'5" longer than 40's? I personaly think the 40 delta flows are too loud.
The "X" pipe has been proven to be superior to the "H" pipe in scavenging the exhaust pulses on a V8. It costs more also. As far as the mufflers, per Mr. Hands information: The Dynomax Ultra Flo series flows 99% air vs. Flowmaster 50 series @ 53%. There are others listed that I can share if interested.
I got this info from Mr. Hand's "Silent Power" CD that I purchased awhile back. I do not have a web address to help you. I can direct you as to where to purchase it though. ($10) It has a good selection of exhaust sounds , both 2.5" and 3", with and without an "X" pipe. The mufflers were tested for flow rates, measured (case size), and give MSRP and actual cost. They also give the decibel levels for 750, 2200, and 3500 rpm. Well worth the money IMO.
I KNOW A GUY HERE THAT MAKES MANDREL BENT EXAUST SYSTEMS.HE CAN USE STAINLESS OR ALUMINIZED.HE DOES GOOD WORK AND HE MAY GIVE ME A DISCOUNT CAUSE I USE TO WORK WITH HIM YEARS AGO AND HE HELPS ME FROM TIME TO TIME..
Then dynomax it is. Terry how about a price then for mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust system with dynomax mufflers. For a 68' bird with long branch manifold's ? Lonelybird do they have greaseless muffler bearings now? I used to hate crawling underneath the car to grease them.
