Has anyone ever installed new seal material on the fresh air vents in the kick panels on a 1967. The rubber seal is detoriated on mine. Is there any where to purchase the material to repair these. Or is there a suitable substitute.

There's a post from way back where that goopy putty was discussed. Someone should know what it is and where to find it. I wish I did. I'll be doing my kick panels again before too long.
Hmmm, that post was quite some time ago... many beers have gone by since then...
I believe that some dealers still cary it, and or there are other's that have said to use plumbers puddy, and or other materials such as this...
If you can find something like this, that is flexable, water resistant, and you can mold it into a rope type shape (much like Plumbers puddy) you should be set.
I hope to pull my kicks off again soon to add stock speakers and grills (on new speakers in the stock location!) and to paint them etc... so I too will be doing this soon!
I bought a set of kicks from classic and installed the grilles over speakers before I put them in. I had to make my own cut-out for the speakers. I just put them in withous sealing them. Then, when I washed the car ..... D'Oh!
what about windshield tape? it comes in 5/16" and 3/8" diameter ~6' rolls. it's kinda like tar, but not quite as bad. it's called "butyl something-or-other windshield tape" i think. most auto paint/body suppliers will have it.
And for those of you needing the "dum-dum" It's called 3M Strip Caulk and Eastwoods carries it.

Salmon38 you win!!! I went back and read my original post, I guess I could have made it a little more clear that I was talking about the vent doors. ( I knew what I was talking about I guess I assumed you all would be on the same page.) It's a good thing that salmon38 is psychic.
Thanks for playing

Not psychic. Just another bird owner that noticed his vent seals were shot and knew what catalog they were in.

OK, OK, OK ... I blew another one. You guys are going to make me think too much before I answer from now on, and I have no idea what might come from my keyboard when that happens.
