Typically I've tried to take all the pictures I can of original birds over the years to document things like this. Placement, type of decal, use, California car VS no CA car etc.. I've found this is the best way to cross reference.
Then I've tried to share as much as I can with everyone here. I know many like Jim C and Vikki have done much the same. It goes with out saying that Geoff has built this site for just that reason! There should be some info and images in the FAQ section.
Much of my reference is for 67, but I have some for 68 as well..
What are you looking for? Or maybe the question is what do you have to start with?
I agree with Brett, and I file away all pics I think are original and relevent, and then some... Let us know what you are after, we will get you the pics and lowdown...
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe. 1968 400 convertible (Scarlet) 1976 T/A - 455 LE (No Burt) 1976 T/A New baby, starting full restoration. 1968 350 - 4 speed 'vert - 400 clone (the Beast!) 1968 350 convertible - Wife's car now- 400 clone (Aleutian Blue) (Blue Angel) 2008 Durango - DD 2008 GXP - New one from NH is AWESOME! 2017 Durango Citadel - Modern is nice! HEMI is amazing! 1998 Silverado Z71 - Father-daughter project 1968 400 coupe - R/A clone (Blue Pearl) (sold) 1967 326 convertible - Sold 1980 T/A SE Bandit - Sold
I'm not sure some of these stickers really had a "standard" location. I have noticed cars that appear to have the original "hot" stickers on other locations too.
The emissions stickers seems to often be on the left 400/AC car filler (and aleigned in different ways) and may be on the radiator shroud on others. I would like to see other responses to that. I recently moved mine from the shroud to the filler. (A long story behind that.)
isn't there a decal on the radiator fill? where does it go exactly?
and
What decal was this one exactly? The GM Dealer Installed Anti-freeze one?
The only decals I found on my car were the ones on the trunk lid(jacking instructions) and the tire pressure one in the glove box.
I know I also need the following:
GM MARK OF EXCELLENCE BLUE FOIL DECAL for the door "KEEP YOUR CAR ALL GM" AIR CLEANER DECAL for the Ram Air pan (cloned RA II car)
I'm presuming the 1968 400 RAM AIR EMISSION DECAL is what would go on the filler panel(similar to what JimC has shown for his 400HO)
Are there any more that I am missing? I've seen some in the catalogs listed for the windshield washer...
