Hello, Any suggestions for a dual exhaust? I'm having a hard time finding "over the axle" pipes. I would like to get away from the stock, single muffler set up and run two pipes all the way back with eithter a cross over or "H" pipe. I see a crappy looking e-bay set up and a pretty decent Flomaster on summit. Any other ideas?
Your local muffler shop can make an exhaust system for you. I had one made at Tuffy Muffler for my 69. I have the Flowmaster from Summit on my 67 and it works good too.
Local shops usually do a very nice job. I had mine done 8 years ago when I lived in CA at a small muffler shop. I went with 2-5/8" pipe front to back with dual 40 series FlowMasters and an "H" pipe. I have since added LB manifolds and tail pipe splitters. Looks good, fits good and sounds great. The only negative to a local shop is that most often they can not do a mandrel bend. Other than that they typically do a great job and usually a great price... JMO

got that excact same set up ,except I have 2.5" pipes, 2 - Flows 40 and H , no transverse, splitters at the ends, but stock manifolds..got it done at local Meineke shop, cost $500. 2 yrs ago
I must have gotten one heck of a deal then. Same system except I provided Walker Turbo mufflers. Shop provided 2.5" pipe and bending (with H pipe) for $175.

Thanks guys. I worked at NAPA about 15 years ago and at the time procured some 2.25" stainless pipe, two dynamax ultra flo stainless mufflers and 1970 ish over the hump pipes that fit quite well. I went to transfer this setup to another 69 over the weekend and had to cut the pipe after the muffler. I went to Midas and without the car there they made up two "splices" to get me back up and running. I got it back together but one tail pipe is cockeyed. The guy said it would happen since he didn't have the car there and offered to fix it, I think that's what I'll do.
