My son is working on a 69 coupe that originally had a standard interior and wants to install a custom interior. The door panels of course are different and I am wondering if the mounting holes are the same for custom as standard. I believe the window regulators are different with the custom interior being longer. My concern is that the mounting holes for the door panel are the same. I have a 70 Formula and the mountings are different for the custom interior versus the standard. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.
Yes the window regulators are different. The shaft for the window crank is longer for the thicker custom panels. Placement is the same for both type of regulators.
I was going to ask this question this week! OK< so then we need new window regulators for the front AND back windows(???), or just the front. And we need different door handles which we can buy through a supplier or what have you. As far as the seats go, mine is a 67, which are similar, but the grab bar- does anyone have a template on where to put the grab bar? Measurements as to how far down from the edge of the dash pad, and or the tip of the glovebox? Also isn't there an emblem on the dash too that goes there?

No intention on hijacking this thread, but I have a stupid question and figured this thread might be a good place to ask it since it applies kinda...
How the hell do you get the screw in for the inner doorhandle on a 67 deluxe interior?!?!?!??! I have 90 degree ratchet (and non ratchet) screwdrivers, but I **STILL** cannot get into the doorpocket, under the doorhandle, and to the screw head to get the screw tightened. Can someone give me some tip on how they were able to tighten their doorhandle screws? I am tired of having the doorhandle fall off every time I shut the door, and then having to line it back up to get out of the car... lol
Well, I need to keep shopping for a longer screwdriver then. The ones I have are no where near that long on the bend, and the ends do not reach the screw. And while I have not looked too hard, the few times I have, I have not found any that appear to be as long as yours... lol
And now that I look at that photo, are yours put on with a bolt?? The screws that came with my handles are just phillips head screws. Maybe that is why I am having such a problem...
The handles are put on with a headed bolt, not a screw.
If you look closely at the picture shown a few posts ago, a box wrench is bent for the bolt access.
Its a tough spot to get at I will add...

Yeah, I checked mine and my passenger side handle is attached with a phillips head screw. I have NO clue how they did that as I have yet to find a screwdriver to reach it... My other one is missing the bolt and was the one I wanted to attach.... Now I suppose I will find bolts that fit and git-er-done... That would explain why I was having such a hard time getting to the screw... Its not supposed to be a screw.
I was thinking of converting from std to deluxe interior on a 69. Can anyone clarify a point on the interior door handle. The std handle pulls up to open the door but doesn't the deluxe handle pull outward to open it? If so, wouldn't it be necessary to get the whole door handle mechanism to make the conversion as well as getting the window regulators with the longer stems on them. And what about the back window cranks, do they need to be longer on the deluxe interior?
