I'm kind of ignorant on rear axle torque arms. I've read a lot of conflicting info. I have a '67 326 car with an arm on the passenger side. Some say this is correct - only one came on the car. Some say it should have one on each side. Some say only the RA cars had two torque arms. Huh???
Why are the RA torque arms different than the non-RA arms?
Why don't I see an arms on '68 350 coupes or 'verts?
Factory traction bars only came on 67's to control wheel hop. 68's got multi-leaf springs and staggered shocks instead of traction bars. In 67 Pontiac was stuck with chevy designed suspension so added traction bars. There's a table in the 67 service manual that tells what car got 2, 1, or no bars. My 326 2bbl 4 speed had 2. A 326 with auto would get 1.
Just to add a little, the table in the Service Manual Supplement can almost be summed up by saying all manual cars got 2 bars and all auto cars got 1 bar.
The exception are the 6 banger 1 BBL carb cars. Sticks got one bar and autos no bar unless it had a 3.23 rear axle.

I was cleaning above where my rear belongs( It's getting new seals ) and I noticed on the passenger side two bolts that don't attach to anything. It was a mono leaf, Suppose those bolts were for torque Arm?
Are the 2 bolts protruding through the rear floor pan? Is there a corresponding Riv-Nut in the rear frame rail nearby? That would be the place the front bracket mounted.

That sounds suspiciously like a toilet. I don't care who you are...That's funny right there!
Are the 2 bolts protruding through the rear floor pan? Yes Is there a corresponding Riv-Nut in the rear frame rail nearby? Don't know, I'll have to check. That would be the place the front bracket mounted. Thanks
Oneshotleft, That is indeed where the bracket mounts.
Bob, no kidding! Everyone who has ever been within 60' of a given car is an "expert".
So, since most people leaned toward trashing the monoleafs and changing to multileaf springs, my assumption is that that's a better setup than adding the second traction arm. Any thoughts?
