Based on how everyone I came across (3) was covered with surface rust with no evidence of any paint, I'm pretty sure they were natural.
Make that - I'm positive. I looked up my April '99 copy of HPP where they had the 2nd of two articles on Jim Mattison's '67 Ram Air.
The article also says the springs (mono's) were light gray and the rear pumpkin and axle were natural with the back side of the pumpkin painted with cheap 60% gloss black.
