I am resolving some brake issues after doing a 4 speed conversion on my '67 Bird. One question I missed on my previous posting: Does anyone have an easier way to reattach the brake pedal return spring? I've done it once before and its a bear. Note, I remove the drivers seat first, for comfort! Thanks.
Manual or power? Only manual brakes get the spring. No advice here. When I took mine off I remember thinking it would be tough to get back on. Went power so I left it off.
Really? I think the service manual shows the spring on all applications. Mine are power. I tried it with the spring off and the brake light stayed on no matter how I adjusted the switch. Thanks.
Unplug the sending wire from the brake distribution block and see if the light goes off. If it does, you have a hydraulic/actuator system issue to attend to.
If not, check the parking brake switch and pedal.

You are right; manual only shows spring on manual brakes, not power. Fixed my brakes today; the pedal was hitting the stop light switch and the shop that did the 4 speed conversion, had the pedal push rod extended too much into the power booster. Brakes are nice now; thanks for everyone's help!
