I finally got around to cleaning the 10 bolt Posi that came with the race car, it had been shoved in the corner awaiting it's turn. Anyway I pulled the cover, 3.08 posi unit still in good shape, I pulled the plug, it had a tag on it covered in crud. I sprayed it with brake cleaner and it's an original perfect condition Red Posi Lube tag. Not a spectacular find, but fairly rare on a car passed around and raced so many times.
I'm not entirely sure what year or model the rear is though. Where do I find the stamped numbers?

Sorry guys, I plan to run it in the race car for awhile until I get a 9", then it'll go in the convertible behind the Sprint 6 engine.
I may be selling a set of 67 4 piston calipers and mounting plates though. I have no use for them. The aftermarket kits are better brakes but for someone wanting some correct parts they'd be great but would probably need sleeved. Got a bunch of other stuff that's starting to pile up. Just haven't figured pricing on anything. Badly need to do an inventory. I might just haul a bunch to Pigeon Forge for the Pontiac swap meet in June.

Jim, I looked over both axle tubes and can't find any stamped numbers. Found what looks like a date code in the center section, J88 it looks like. Once I wire brush the tubes maybe something faint will show up. I did find under all the crude some yellow bone yard markings, it said 68 something, couldn't make out what but it has to be Firebird, Camaro or Nova, multi leaf perches.

It doesn't take a whole lotta rust to permanently erase the factory stamping on the axle tube.... If it's a BOP 10 bolt then you can eliminate Camaro and Nova out of the possibilities too. It could have been in an Olds Omega, or Pontiac Ventura maybe? Not many choices with Firebird length axle tubes.
My axle codes were gone after sandblasing and powdercoating.
So I visited the locksmith at work and "borrowed" a couple of his 3/16's key stamps for the correct letters. Worked great.
