The one part of brake service I haven't been familiar with is the power brake booster. I recently bought a refurbished Delco Moraine booster. Not knowing that there are two different cylinder push rods, of course it has the longer of the two. This won't work with the master cylinder since it needs the shorter.
The push rod won't pull out, so I guess I'll have to crack the booster to change the push rod. I've been reading the service manuals, and it doesn't look that difficult. But if there's anyone out there that can pass along tips and procedures the service manuals overlook that would sure help.
Also I need the shorter push rod. I've checked the venders and found NPD has a push rod, but no mention which booster it's for. That's the extent of looking for the push rod I've done. I'll check with NAPA today. If unavailable, anyone know where I can get one, or have one?
It's the only thing holding me back from upgrading the brakes in the cammer. Unless I'm overlooking something else. I've been known to do that.
I still need the short push rod for the master cylinder, and vacuum hose. I also found the boot on the firewall for the clutch rod in need of replacement...again.
The only PITA was having to remove the brake pedal to adjust the clevis. Having both 'birds pending repairs is drivin' me nuts!
