I know that some of you guys thought this car was a little pricey, but I'm sure I made the right decision. For those who don't remember, this is the 69 vert, 350 auto, matching numbers, power top, power seat, powert windows, A/C, P-disc brakes, P.S., fold own seat, etc. It also came with all of the parts needed to restore it including a complete interior everything, every piece of rubber, top, all new chrome, moldings, body panels, and everything to covert it to a T/A. There were so many parts that came with it besides what he showed me originally. Most of the stuff is brand new in the box. I pulled out a weird piece of carpet that looked like an oversized floor mat and when I read the label on the box it said "Carpet: fold down seat"! I didn't know it had a fold down seat so I went to look and sure enough, it does!! Came with the original decklid with a Camaro type spoiler as well as the new decklid with the T/A spoiler.
It had been up on blocks since 95 but started regularly. I shot some hot start in it and put the fresh battery that came with it in and kicked right off, no smoke and idled real nice! He had taken the front end apart and got the nose and rear bumper rechromed. I'm still going through parts. Body is good and solid and the trunk floor is too aside from some pitting in the center. All the cocktail shakers are in place too. I'm pretty excited about it all in all.
I paid the full $9K. But I just added up the receipts he had and they were $4,158 in in new parts, plus lots of other used parts too. The floors will need no replacements and only one small patch. So I figured I've already saved the cost of the sheetmetal repair.
Congrats James! Don't get me wrong, it wasn't that the price was high, it was that I thought you should try to talk him down some. Hey, if you can't you can't! Looking forward to your progress with this car.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Having not previously been from the Firebird fold, can anyone share some info with me on the options this car has? Basically I'm interested in knowing how rare it is to have factory A/C in a vert, or power seat, or power windows or a fold down seat. Sure, these are luxury options an not as cool as a ramair or 4spd, but still, they are rare aren't they?
Also, do all 69's buzz when you leave your lights on and turn off the key?
Power seat is rare. A/C in a 'vert is strangely common in Michigan cars. Fold down seat isn't common, but isn't rare either. Power windows are less common than fold down seat, but not "rare". Finding a car that has all the options above is rare.
There is a key buzzer, but mine doesn't buzz with the light switch position, only if you leave the key in and open the door.
Did you get the GTO and LeMans too?
Vikki 1969 Goldenrod Yellow / black 400 convertible numbers matching
No, somebody scrafed them up because I was unable to get up there in time with my trailer to get them. They were about 100 miles from me requiring two trips.
Also, do all 69's buzz when you leave your lights on and turn off the key?
Only when you leave the key in the ignition switch. The buzzer is part of the horn relay. One of the main failures of the buzzer is the contact in the steering column. The other is the coil in the relay.
