I had to move the 68 Ram Air car out of the garage today and took these pictures....It is Very original...I have been requested to send pics to other members of various parts on this car and chose to post a link here of all the pictures....I welcome anyone's opinion of originality. ....The first 2 are Video's and can be very loud, Check your volume settings
My '68 was built the second week of Sept. 1967. It has the same mirror as yours, and the original exhaust splitters. Mine also has the 'early' dual bulb front turn signal assemblies. I heard those were only installed for "a couple of weeks" in Sept. '67 for the '68 models.
Do you know if your car has those?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. Thanks .. Yours is really early...and that mirror should be correct ..mine does not have the dual bulb front signals..I am not sure when and what cars got them, That would make a nice research topic...your VIN should be a low one..one of my friends have a 1967 with VIN# 00014....Real nice car as well.
Mine had the dual bulb signals as well, unfortunately I had to replace them with the singles, as one of the housings was too far gone...I believe mine was second week of sept as well, I'll have to check when i get home...maybe they were assembly line mates
Well, at least that's confirmation that my car COULD of came with them. (I still like the squares better).
Nice ride.
Hey Cat, if your car was built early it could have had that mirror...That 68 round mirror is very different than the 67 round mirror (that most people do not care for) It is actually round and tear drops to the holder. But then again, we all have our own likes. .. Do you know when your car was built?
Thanks for sharing that video & photo gallery, great stuff! I like how your car shows it's age, pretty well I might say.
Steve
Your welcome...I did ponder on doing a complete restoration on the car when I bought it several years back But I think it is pretty nice the way it came from the factory..It still has the original carpet in it that is a two piece front and a one piece rear...I know a few years ago no one was selling them that way (as a 3 piece) only as a 2 piece front and rear.
Does anyone have front seat belt holders that are from the factory on their early built 1968? ..they would be attached to the console... .. If you look at the pics I posted you will see that my 68 has them and they are from the factory.
I agree .. I had the engine rebuilt...It is the same engine that has been in there since it was sold as a new car,(so the prior owner stated) Although it is correctly dated and comes up as a 1967 GTO engine that is coded for a 4-speed...It also has (and has had) Ram Air II heads on it (round port) they actually have no head castings on them as only the first few Ram Air II heads did not have the 96 castings...I bought the car ON THIS SITE!.
your welcome...I thought the people here would like to see the pics...The car is a wealth of information as it has never been taken apart or stripped of it's originality...Strange thing everything still works on the car including the 8-track and all the original speakers sound great....I drove it today for about 3 miles and as much fun as it was, it was a chore to drive with no power steering or brakes and a 4-speed with the 3:90 rear gears.
the seat belt holders are the originals and have never been taken off, I took the console out of the car and checked for the retainers and the "pilot holes" for them to line up and they are original
I also thought it was strange that the Ram Air cars came with only a 4 blade fan, Until I researched it.
Well, at least that's confirmation that my car COULD of came with them. (I still like the squares better).
Nice ride.

Sorry, just saw this. I am not sure of the exact build date. Is it on the PHS somewhere? All I know is the invoice date is 11/14/1967.
