I got in my car to go for a drive today and discovered that the th350 I just had built this past winter was malfunctioning. The car goes forward in every detent position except "park". That's a problem when you need to back out of your garage. When it is in the reverse and neutral positions it still wants to go forward. At first I thought maybe it was some kind of a linkage problem, but after working with it for a while I'm pretty sure I can rule that out. I drove it yesterday and it worked just fine, but I do remember when I put it in park when I got home the shift felt a bit different than ususal. Does anyone have any ideas about this situation. I'll talk to the guy who built it tomorrow, but for now it would be nice to hear any thoughts anybody might have.
Bruce- Was this ever explained? I have this problem with a TH350 I just installed and the car rolls forward in all detent positions except park, and will not roll backwards. I don't know what I've done wrong yet.
Warren, I doubt you have done anything "wrong" to the car. I took the car back to the local shop that built the transmission the next day. I remember the car wouldn't shift into third gear on the way to the shop. I didn't ask the guy what exactly was wrong with it, but he seemed to know when I explained what the car was doing. I assume an adjustment just needed to be performed. They dropped the transmission pan and fixed the problem. Within and hour or two it was fixed and has been running fine ever since. He didn't charge me anything for the adjustment.
I hope your issue isn't any more involved than mine. I'll bet you are up and running pretty soon.
