Can anyone recommend an optimum tire size for a set of 14x7 wheels? I just bought a set of Rally I wheels for my car and I want to get a set of redline radials. I want the best handling without rubbing...
My car is a 67 400 convertible w/AC and stock suspension.
14 x 7 rims, they might be 235-60-14 but could be 70's, I can never remember and it'll be the weekend before I can check for sure. I posted it awhile back when someone else asked, you might try another search.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
With 14x7's on a '67-8 don't go with to wide or tall of a tire. I get minor rubbing from P235/70R14's on a sharp turn with grade change @ stock hight. But that is the only time I experience rubbing. With the '69's, they have a skosh more room in the tubs, so keep that in mind.
I did the search the posts last night and that's how I came up with my initial eduacted guess on best size.
I really appreciate the pictures and size specs guys!
The 215/70 14 BFG's look wider than I thought they would, do you have 7" rally II's? Does a 215/70 appear wider on a 7" rim than a 6" inch rim? Maybe I should go with those or 215/65 x14. If I stay down in the 215/65 x14 to 215/70 14 range I can buy the redline radials, twice the $$ than BFG's but they look cool, what the heck right, I'm already blowing money on new Ralley I rims.
If you can check on whether you have 60's or 70's I really appreciate it and won't order my tires until early next week.
If I go with the wider tire the TA's will look good on the new rallye ones too. Thanks again, lot's of help

They're 7" with 4" 1/2 back space. The BFG's do seem a bit wider than other 215 I've seen out there. eg. Kelly, Cooper, Goodyear... I don't think there would be much visual difference in size on 6" rim. But the Back spacing may effect the appearance somewhat setting in the wheel wells.
Redlines on Rally I's is a sweet combo especially if you go with the red lugs too.
