I feel confident that my convertible is road trip worthy. So I should be in attendance. I hope to be leaving here early Saturday morning and staying all day 'till, I don't know.
I miss those days of living a few blocks away from Woodward. This year yet again is not looking so good. Maybe next year.
There was a great T-Shirt guy I would buy from every year. He's not part of the "consortium" of T-shirt guys, but an artist with some cool shirts. Hope he's still in business when I get back there... he was usually just North of 14 mile on the east side.
Paul (from HALF)wont be in his bird either ..its getting enging parts replaced, he will cheat and FLY up there not by bird ,but by plane...but I`m sure he`ll take lots of good pics....

Figured that was the case. That would be one expensive drive up north from Texas. You would have to take out a small loan for that trip.
yeah....and Andy here wants us to cruise over to California as a group! We`ll raise Exxons profits quite a bit if we do! or any other gas company... LOL
I will be on Woodward every night this week if the weather is good. I planned to be their tonight but we have had a lot of rain today. If any one has any ideas to get together let me know.
Hey all , I am going down and cruise around Fri. evening but going to the hometown back to the bricks show in Flint on Sat. About ripped the front spoiler off the last time out. It will have to be removed for the weekend. But running good and cleaned up. Looking foward to a nice couple days off.
We spent the past few hours out on Woodward, the weather was perfect and the cars were abundant.
Only saw 2 '67, 3 '69, and 5 '68 FGFs out there. Camaros outnumbered FGFs 4 to 1, but Corvettes outnumbered FG F bodies 3-1.
Lots of cool cars...no pics tonight, we'll get them tomorrow as I was busy driving instead of shooting.
I saw Loren out there, going the opposite way though so we didn't get to talk. We'll be back out there by noon tomorrow, the 'bird didn't seem to stress too much from 2 1/2 hours of mostly idling in Drive.
Turbo Blue 110 leaded is $7.11 a gallon, we burned through a pretty good amount even at idle. Darned evaporation!

Met up with Tom (if6were9) and Tom (Banshee) and Paul and Darlene from H.A.L.F. We cruised down and up the strip, and sat for a bit watching cars go by.
Next year we need to rally in force, FGFs were woefully scarce out there. I saw more DeLoreans in one spot than FGFs all day.
Unique sight: the Monkeemobile.

Glad you could meet up with Paul and Darlene.... they missed out on a great gathering here yesterday though...Joe Parish`s (a 69 TA among his other 34 cars) wife had arranged a 50`s surprise birthday party...several HALFers there, and many from the local Pontiac group and the TACH group (Trans Am Club of Houston).....
Oh yea, not many 'birds on the Ave at all. Buy there were enough to count on two hands. I wish I had more time to spend when I was up there. The weather was absolutely the best! Partly cloudy, temps in the mid 80's with a slight breeze.
It was great to meet some more fellow 'bird owners. I'm getting quite a list of all the FGFers I've met in person. Three more this time with Paul from TX, Vikki's father, and her daughter who has the car bug installed in her. She turned away from the camera when I snapped the pic.
The trip up to Detroit was uneventful with a few thumbs up from rubber neckers. And pullin' into the rest area always draws a crowd. Ya have to know when to cut off the onlookers so you can get on the road again. With the top down the whole trip, I guess I didn't use enough sun screen. Some of my resembles a cooked lobster.
The convertible ran about 220° on the freeway @ 70-5 MPH. In the slow rollin' parkin' lot on the Ave, the temp gauge climbed all the way up to 245° with no ill effects.
There's one part of the Ave you won't outrun the cops if your speeding.
Tom and I agree it was a perk from a drug seizure. And it's a Z06! How would ya like to be assigned that cruiser?
It got better on the return trip that started off 'bout 10:30 pm. It was a clear, full moon lit night with the temps backing down through the 60's. Heading south bound I had the full moon come up over my left shoulder crossing above me the whole trip home.
Not many bugs, and it was almost cool enough to put the top or windows up... as I said, almost. I just opened up the heater and turned the fan on high. It was another uneventful trip back to Cow Town with the car runnin' 'bout 215°. One glitch. The license plate lamp burnt out.
Next year I will be making it a point to take the week or day off before the cruise. One can't see enough of this event in just a few short hours. There's just to much to see, and I hope to meet up with that gal in a '69 four door baby blue Benz again.
Nice to see that Pauland Darlene were there, not just telling us they went..! So, we in HALF DID have a rep[rseentative there , two actually with Vikki! I`m sure between Paul and Vikki there should be many good pictures.... Paul in his cast and all, hope he got some Woodward cruise signatures on it!

Well I was on Woodward Friday early evening for about 3 hours. It was my first time there and I was impressed. Car ran good in the traffic , and I do not have a overflow bottle. I did see a few birds but not many. I did see the Deloreans lined up. Sat. went to Flints Back to the Bricks show and it was nice and there were alot of cars. I wish I would of went to Flints cruise night on Thursday instead , it was set up more like woodward and not like a car show. A friends car broke down in Flint that screwed it up a little. Both had great turn outs for being so close to each other.
My dad was there too, but behind the lens instead of in front. You can count him in as a HALFer too, he went to the meet at Miles the same time I did, and even has a pin (from Frank Zeller).
And his car will be a nice addition to your cruise fleet, it's not red or black!

Here's a pic of my girl, enjoying Woodward. And this is after a few hours in traffic, she still has a smile on her face. She's my car show buddy, and she likes to go FAST. She's a roller coaster addict, too.

Now that the Cruise is over, I'll be getting ready for the T/A Nationals, maybe. I just talked to my old friend Chris. He invited me to motorcycle down to Maggie Vally, NC.
I've been there before. Some of the best motorcycling is in that area, and I do need a break from fixin' four wheel vehicles. Now I have to fix my Beemer.
Yes, I know her, she lives near 25 and Dequindre too, on the Rochester side. Her "restorer" spent over 10 years working on her car, and made many visits to our house for details on getting that one right.
She is giving that car to her grandson.

looks like you all had a good time. I have always wanted to go to the dream cruise. Next year I will have an excuse to take the time and come up. Like the pictures too!

If we get enough folks together, Vikki said something about getting some parking for a group. I hope to find someone to drive my cammer, while I drive the convertible up next year.

Slip on the tongue I guess. Since new?

That'll work. But say, you need to get your 'bird rollin. Glad to let ya pilot the convertible for a short. It gave me the op to snap a few pics. Hope it gave you a little inspiration to get your HO project on track.
