Am I mistanken in my knowledge of the rockers of the '69 convertible? I was under the impresion that it was 3 pieces, an outer (outboard) piece, with an inner rocker (in board) connected to the floor pan, with a support sandwiched in between the two.
The reason I ask is, my inner rockers are littterally rusted gone, and I am in the process of cleaning up what is left to get new inners to put in. However as I remove the rust I am noticing a sizable amount of rust pieces comming out of in between the support and outer rocker. At first I discounted this to be what was left of the floor and inner rocker, but some of the pieces look to big to have gotten there from the little holes that are in the support. Grant it, the inner support is rusted open in the back and front, but not enough to not be repairable.
So Am I mistaken? Should I plan on replacing the whole rocker, or should I continue down the path of repair and put in a new inner? What is the opinion of those here? While money is an object, I have spent enough time on this I don't want to cheap out on something stupid. As far as I can tell the outer rockers are decent except in the front, and those holes are minor.
Thanks, Paul.
A coupla months in the laboratory can save a coupla hours in the library.
