The billing history is the document that you get from PHS, which they decode to tell you what options your car came with. It is a copy of the microfiche of your billing history.
I am starting this thread as a place for people to document codes that weren't decoded by the PHS service.
A document in the package from PHS warns not trying to decode all the options from the billing history as several codes were used to describe things such as "winter antifreeze" , and are not listed on the order form.
Here is some information that I obtained that was not decoded by the PHS service.
I found out my dealer by doing a title search and was able to decode my own zone. The first sate registered had a microfilm of the manufacturers statement of origin showing car transferred from Pontiac to the dealer also had invoice number. It provided the name next to the zone codes. back of form had assignment to owner
I sent my information to Triple A enterprises in 1996 ( 317 875 7636 of Indianapolis) to make a repro widow sticker. I asked them what all the boxes meant on the billing history that weren't decoded by PHS. They answered some of them for me (as much as they had knowledge of). I highly recommend them if they are still around. A hand written note by Bill Patrick/(hard to read last name) indicated a few options that were not decoded from the billing history by PHS. He said codes 55 4 and 77 X were my wheel covers. (they are deluxe wheel discs, std with custom trim). I think he meant 77x was a the turbo hydramatic 400 transmission because that is what the window sticker came back with for that option. There was no spot on the order sheet for Pontiac provided PHS to highlight these. He said he wasn't positive but thought 74 F was the axle ratio (3.08, standard ratio, not optional). Mine is a safe-t-track. I suspect these guys have the zone codes all figured out.

Also, did you know that you can compare the engine unit number on the billing history sheet to the one on egine block to determine original engine? Location passenger side front below cylinder head. Engine code(two letters) will also be stamped there and is also on the billing history boxes 75 and 76.
Good idea Scott. I believe if the information on the codes rolls in, I will develop a spreadsheet documenting and cross-referencing them.
I have been able to pretty well decifer the Billing records codes since I have my original window sticker and have owed my 68 since 69. I will go though the PHS documentation and identify any codes they don't explain.
There are also a number of codes on the Body Broadcast Sheets that some are lucky enough to find stashed around the cars. I have a couple mystery codes on mine but I'll try to decode them from known equipment.
I found information on this website from Geoff's 1968 Pontiac sales manual. Make me think. 55-4 is the custom trim option which includes many things not just deluxe interior. I dont know if it applies to 1967. I had been told it meant deluxe wheel discs. Perhaps it means more.
Here is what I found....
Firebird Custom Option
This impressive custom trim package, available on all Firebirds as an extra-cost option, is comprised of a select group of interior and exterior styling appointments especially designed to provide an added touch of elegance and luxury to these personal sports-type cars.
Interior Appointments: ° Custom-styled, slimline Strato-bucket front seats in all-expanded Morrokide. Strato-bench front seat also available at added cost. ° Seat and cushion inserts finished in attractive knit vinyl. ° Custom-formed vinyl door and quarter trim panels. ° Vinyl-coated taffeta perforated headlining in hardtop coupes. ° Bright, roof side-rail garnish moldings in hardtop coupes. ° Convenient flexible assist grip on instrument panel. ° Flexible pull handles with bright, decorative trim shields on doors. ° Attractive "Firebird" emblems on door panels and glove compartment. ° Deluxe steering wheel of energy absorbing, 3-spoke design.
Exterior Appointments: ° Bright metal wheel opening moldings at front and rear. ° Handsome, chrome-plated deluxe wheel discs. ° Dual horns.
A-8
Note: Not all custom trim Firebirds came with the above trim options (Code 554). Some came with standard interiors (224xx) while others came with custom interiors (226xx). All items in the Custom Trim Option could have been ordered individually on a 22467 (or 22437) car except the Deluxe Interior, 22667 (or 22637).
Gary metioned to me that the 55-4 option Custom trim included all the options contained in the trim package not just the wheel discs as I mentioned above. Tiple A the source of that comment was probably aware of that but did not explain it completely to me.
email from Gary to Firebird list.

Jim M. called me this morning and was very helpful and explained why certain things such as the custom package don't show up on the billing history. He explained, when a car was ordered with with the custom trim it came standard with certain things within the package such has deluxe wheel covers, steering wheel so on. BBC standard wheel but standard within the package actually it is a deluxe wheel. I thought you guys would be interested. Gary Plowman
Great info here. I have a question: I have the PHS on my 68 Firebird as well as my 69 Firebird. The 69 PHS shows the dealership and state where my car was sold new, while the 68 PHS does not include this info. How does one find out where your car originated from if its a 68?
pmdclasics Your billing history for the 68 provided by PHS should have a zone and dealer code in the upper left hand corner. ( not positive since I have only seen a 1967 form).
The answer to your question may possibily be found by following this link for zone and dealer code discussion.
If that doesn't work, look in the second post in this thread for Triple A enterprises or visit the PHS site. They make window stickers and may be able to provide that information on a window sticker for a fee.
