It also killed the hood and dented the deck and the panel in front of it, but the roof... I don't know what to do. I can't do bodywork like that if I could do any at all. This happened last night. The thought has occurred to part out the car. I've had it twenty years last April.
That can be fixed by a bodyman who can weld studs to the sheet metal and restore it to its proper shape. The sharper creases may require a small amount of fill and paint, but many of the technicians who do this work are seemingly wizards at it. The tulip panel can be bumped from below, the deck either with studs, from below, or by replacement, and the hood, if not salvageable, can be replaced.
"Paintless" dent repair shop is what you are looking for.
Won't your insurance cover it?
What's this talk about parting out your car? Especially after as long as you waited to drive her, and as long as she waited for you?

I only have liability. I'm a poor man with a rich car. In 1988 I could almost afford to buy it (borrowed DAD money). I still owe him $250 for this $750 car.
It's good to see you and so many others still here. I've been so busy working and fixing and I found a girl. I work 50-60hrs/wk at a full service shop.
I just gave away an extra hood too. Crap.
I thought about a new roof. The roof is kittyhair in the front, but no rust has come through since it was done over 10 yrs ago. You're the second person to advise "paintless" even though the paint is irreparable for more reasons than this. Hearing it from you, Vikki, gives it more credence.
sorry about that...but if you had classic insurance it would probably be less than regular liability... the roof can be fixed...hood too, body mnan can do it, whether you go paint less or not....no use to part the car out because you dont have the money right now...leave it as is for now ,fix later.... it is still driveable....save up, fix later...

The problem with collector car insurance is space. They require the insured car be kept in a garage or storage area. Hagerty even asks what type of structure (wood frame, steel quonset hut, attached garage, etc etc) the car will be kept in. I have to carry regular car insurance on my cammer for that reason.
It looks worse than it seems. Indeed that can be fixed so don't let it get you down, and to the point of parting it out. Don't give up hope yet. Get some professional opinions and assessments first.
I fear that happening to my cammer. Sorry that had to happen to ya bro.
I was once in the same financial bind. In situations like that, I would trade something I had to get the work done. If that wasn't possible, I would get books from the library and walk around talking to body men to get their advise on how to do it myself and where to borrow the tools or pick them up at yard sales or swap meets for cheap. Then I would convince a buddy or two to help for beer or promise to help them on thier cars. As for the girlfriend, she can hang out with you as you work on the car somtimes.
Obviously with body work, you have to start out slow and take your time to get it right, so it could take some time to get it done. If you like the car a lot don't sell it, just find a way to fix it.
All of that damage can be fixed with either repairing the existing panels or replacing some of them. Hold onto the car wait until you can afford to fix it. A family member just told me that my car was screaming for the junk yard because of some rust holes. The holes can be fixed, the car cannot be replaced very easily. I informed the inlaw that they don't make these cars any more.
I would prefer to keep/fix the existing body panels. If you were to replace the roof, look at about $800-1000 just to R&R, no paint.
The decklid and the rear panel...Figure a good used desert decklid and panel $500, paint blend $4-600. Repair roof and blend paint $1500-2000. That roof dent does not look that bad...at all. But bodyshops see a 67 Firebird and the cost will more than likely increase. I say that dent is a $1000-1500 repair.
If say you were going to eventually repaint car to a different color is something you should think about.
I say take a breath, a step back, re-evaluate and assess. You know you need the trunk and deck panel. If the car is a nice original and or worth it, the price difference between used excellent original panels and repops is probably $200-300 more for both. And you know that originals will fit (thus saving time and labor costs at $65 an hour to fit will be negated)

I opened the two 'bullet' posts you listed and the viruses took over faster than symmantec could shut them down.
Was it a coincedence? Did anyone else get infected?
