Last week I went to rebuild my 4 piston calipers, but one had several frozen pistons. So I sent both to a shop in Westerville, OH to be sleeved and rebuilt. I've looked around, but haven't found any caliper paint that is clear or matches the ductile iron. What are you using to stop rust & retain the original appearance, cast iron exhaust manifold paint?
I now have (2) unopened Dorman caliper repair kits no longer needed & would like to sell them. I'll take the lowest price you can find & ship for free.

The Dupli-Color high temp cast iron paint I used on my exhaust manifold turned brown in a short time. Check into the POR-15 paints, I've heard good thing about them, but haven't seen any results.
Thanks for your response. I'm wondering, since the calipers won't get as hot as exhaust manifolds, hopefully, do you think the finish looked reasonably factory (unpainted) before the browning?

Had I been on my toes, I'd have gotten a can of that to use on my master cylinder too instead of the Rustoleum satin black that doesn't look proper & refuses to dry. Do you think Hirch's CI paint would stick to the aforementioned Rustoleum on my master cylinder? The really annoying part: even after 41 years, my master cylinder still looked new w/ no rust. Why oh why did I paint it black?????

Just wipe the master with Easy-Off oven cleaner. It should soften it up enough to wipe then scrub off most of the Rustoleum. Be sure to drape off everything else.
The Hirsch paint prefers to be baked to cure for durability. I baked my master cylinder bare casting on a rack over the woodstove, but heat lamps or just plain engine heat would likely do the trick. Calipers will provide plenty of heat.

I have some the eastwood cast iron paint on my calipers. The paint has held up very well over the years but the car is not on the road to test against the heat.
I really love the eastwoods paint. They have a very hi solids content to them and spray real easy.
Eastwood also carries a line of coatings specifically made for brake calipers. They come is all sorts of wild colors, but I bet you they have either clear or "cast iron".
I used Eastwood's cast iron paint for exhaust manifolds on the turbo for my '80 Turbo Bird. It still looked like the day I put it on when I sold that car. Trust me, that puppy got hot!

The Dupli-Color high temp cast iron paint has to much gloss in it from what I recall. Looks like there are better alternatives.

I used it on my exhaust manifolds and it is already burned off of a good chunk of my manifolds.
