Our bag of goodies contained two speedo cables that appear to couple together in order to fit from the speedo to the transmission. Didnt know if this was correct or not since it wasnt on the car when we got it. Sounds like we may have inherited someones make shift way of making a cable long enough. How long of a 1 pice cable should we looking for? Thanks for the info.
There is a lot of vague info about speedo cables out there, my 69 TH400 original cable was 57 inches long. The generic replacement is 61 inches and will work but the cable ends up looped around behind the bellhousing area instead of going straight down from the firewall grommet. The only correct 2 piece setup I can think of would be for cruise control. DJ

Yes, that would require a two piece cable. One from the speedo to the cruise box, and one from the cruise box to the trans. I forgot about that. Not many 'birds got the cruise control.
It appears the 2 piece fits fine. Other than the conector seemingly out of place, the lenght is correct and it works! Now we need a 45T drive gear to work with our 3:55 RE and 15" wheels.
