I was reading in the '67 FB factory service manual about the subject item bolted onto the 6 cylinder harmonic balancer to enable raising the engine for motor mount replacement and even oil pan removal. The section for V8 engines gives a similar procedure for replacing the mounts, but makes no mention of using the aforementioned bracket. For motor mount replacement w/ the engine in place, what is the accepted method of raising the V8? At one time, I figured a board under the oil pan w/ a floor jack would do it, but now I'm thinking that may be too far back to work.

There was an engine lifting loop attached to the water pump. I've never used one to lift the engine, however, as I bolt the hoist directly to the iron heads.

Yes, that loop was used both times I removed and replaced my engine. Mine even bent back toward the flywheel since I used a chain and hoist w/o a leveling cradle. I was hoping to jack up the enginge, rather than lift it, since I don't have ready access to lifts.
