I recently installed the rebuilt & sleeved original calipers and was getting ready to install the rebuilt master cylinder on my '67 manual disc brake car. It should have been done before, but when the button on the hold off valve was pressed - it is frozen. Clamping it in a vise & exerting a fair amount of pressure did nothing to free it up. So, I assume it is toast and probably rusted too badly to rebuild. Do any of you have a good source for this item or a rebuild kit if it's practical to do so?
Also, after looking in the FAQ Section, it seems as though this valve really isn't all that necessary - is that true? If so, can I just install the valve in the system and use it in an unoperable state?

I've rebuilt a few of them. I actually had a few extra seals kits for it as that is really all that you need. I think there is only about 5 parts to it. I cannot see why a 67 is any different then the 68 or 69. I think I have one sitting on the shelf but it came from a 68 if I remember correctly.

They are functionally the same, but different in appearance. I think Heartbeat City carries the rebuild kit or you can send out to Vanco or one of the other rebuilders.
I've yet to disassemble mine, but the plunger can't be moved w/ a plastic mallet or even a vice. I have to assume that if it's stuck that badly, it may beyond a simple rebuild by replacing seals & would probably need sleeved. What did you experience w/ the ones you rebuilt?

I think you right if the pluger in that stuck it's time to look at a new unit as the old one may just end up leaking on you.Unscrew it and take it appart, you have nothing to loose at this point.

Vanco did a good job of rebuilding it, although they screwed up the distribution block. These are pretty simple to rebuild and I think the kits are less than $20. It might be worth a shot. Get a small brake hone to clean up the bore. I think Heartbeat carries the valves too.
