One of the things my convertible was ordered with, and I've been putting off buying have been floor mats. I wanted to get them when Ames was at the T/A Nats. They had the rear mats but no front mats. So I got a price break on the shipping from them.





I compared the one original floor mat I kept to the new one. The new mat is spot on in every detail but one. The nubs on back of the old mat are farther apart, therefor less of them. The judges don't turn over the mats... do they.

I am very pleased with the aftermarket mats too. They are a nice quality and match the look of the originals spot on, just like you stated. I do think the rear mats are a little bit too big though. An 1" to 1 1/2" narrower would look nicer IMHO.

I drive my car a lot so I keep my reproduction mats in the trunk and use cheapo mats. I love the look of the reproductions/originals but they're so damned expensive to replace, I don't want to booger them up.

I have the same and they do crinkle a bit at the back seat. I wonder if the originals did that as well ??

Yea, I thought the rear mats a little large to. But it's the exact same size as the original. It takes a little tuggin' to get the rears to fit, but they do. Forget trying to get the puckers out, even my original did that as old and worn out as it is.

That's a good idea John. Yes they are a pricey when you consider that when ordered, you paid about $14.00 back in the day. D@%# it, I threw out my old cheap carpet set. D'oh!

Think the rears fit all models.
The ones in my folks 65 Bonny looked the same size.

I like the repop mats that have the first gen bird logo on them ,correct or not, they have the correct "feel/look"...

Black seems too over the top. I like the repro 'arrow' version, but like Bjorn mentions above, no one sells them in gold.

This is probably why my '67 didn't have any floor mats in it when I bought it.

Because I have my mats in and out, I've found that the rears go in best when you fold them (not creasing them!) front to back. The front edges tuck under the front seats, and the rears can tuck under the back seat until you get them adjusted.

Love the overhead shots of your interior Tom. I'm very pleased with my burl wood sticker on my dash. it might be a nice touch on yours.

I did have a spare bezel that I applied the burl wood to. To me, it didn't look right without the sport wheel. It was an uncut bezel to. I changed it back, the original bezel that came with the car was cut (for the radio), and I installed an AM/FM cassette.

For my winter project, the bezel is coming out one more time for upgrades. I have a rally gauge cluster with the proper temp & oil senders. I'm also getting new quartz clock works, and I'll be upgrading the guts of a factory AM radio. All will be installed to a uncut bezel.

The very last item in need of a refurbish are the seats. They still look very good, but they're starting to show their age. So new seat buns, spring repair and Naugabeast covers are slated for the future.

I just noticed something that I never thought of before now. In the second picture posted at the begining of this thread, I see that the front seat belts have covers over the ends where they are bolted to the floor near the hump. Did our cars come with these covers or are those something that if6was9 added?

If those are supposed to be there, does anyone have a pair they want to sell?

Tom: if you're going to upgrade the radio, make sure to get preamp outs on it or, go with speakers that are matched to a much lower wattage than they advertise. I got the 45 W out max/channel upgrade that is very common and I can confidentally say that it is probably 45Max total out. I cannot drive the speakers past about 15% from quiet without them breaking up.

Those covers are stock. Yes, 'birds all came with them. I think there are lots of those floating around for sale. And even though you don't like re-pops, most everyone sells them. Terry may have some used ones.

Regarding the tan floor mats, I found this on Epay this morning. They are wrong for my car, but leads me to believe they had tan or brown mats for my '67 back in the day.

Well I'll be, looks like I need em too (the seat belt covers). I don't recall ever seeing them. I just cracked open my CI catalogue and the 68-9 deluxe seat belt package for the front has the outbourd cover come with them but nothing on the inboard belt. What gives. can anyone direct me to a supplier for the repops as I have never seen them on eBay... Terry??

Naked inboard seat belts guys... for shame, for shame.

Yes those are factory covers. Both of my 'birds still retain them. At some point, critters chewed the drivers side cover in the convertible.

What's surprising is the coupe has them. The interior color was changed from gold to black. Those inboard covers are the first thing to go. They're a PITA to install with the seat belt.

I think this might be a 69 only thing.
I have had 2 very orignal 67's and no covers on them.

My 68' has them. I may have one spare black one in good condition.

I have owned six fgf's over the years, and all of them had the covers.

Three '68 350 coupes, two with deluxe interior, one with standard. All with console. (I don't remember the belts)

One '68 350 'vert with deluxe. With console. Standard Belts
One '68 400 'vert with deluxe. No console. Standard Belts
And one '67 326 'vert with deluxe. With console. Standard belts.

I have to keep swatting my kids feet off of them when they sit in the back seet though. They seem to be in the perfect location to be used as foot rests.

Yes, they just arrived on Saturday after a lengthy paypal issue on his end. He's an old guy who had problems figuring it out.

Anyway, I really have not had a chance to clean both sets up yet. Initial indications are they are both in just OK condition. I am sure I can work something very cheap out with you. They are not going anywhere.

Hopefully you are not in a huge hurry to get them as I a falling behind on a bunch of things and just don't have the time to properly go through the set for a little bit.
