This is my first post here, but have been visiting for a few years now. My bird had a set of exhaust manifolds on it that looked like headers to me. They only had three pipes that went into the collector though. The two center cylinders shared a pipe. At first glance, someone asked if that was a V6. I knew better. Is this some kind of production manifold or did it just end up on this car? I have since replaced them with a set of Hedman Headers, but am curious to know what they are. Can anyone provide some info?
Verdoro, if you have the long branch manifolds like it sounds... make sure you KEEP them! Thay are the Hot ticket, and on your H.O. they will let your 141 heads breath right! And best of all it's all stock!
Its sounds to me that you may have the short manifolds pictured below, and these were/are also found on 350 HO originals.
This particular set was bought off of Ebay by yours truly just two weeks ago. The poor fellow selling them did not put a reserve price on them, I watched for a few days, nobody bid, I said what the heck and bought them for 31 dollars. My current manifolds, as most people here know, look like they were found on Mars after being left behind for 1 million years!!
I know everyone loves the long-necks, but your HO may have had these coming off the assembly line. Current price in REPRO is well over 200 bucks.

Are you telling me someone looked at your mammoth 350 big-block and suggested it might be a six cylinder? Avoid this person in the future at all costs!

it was in an old chevy or gmc truck i think. i forget the year. early 60's i think. i assumed it was a v8, but i was wrong. it was correct for the vehicle. i wish i could remember the year and cid.
anybody know anything about these old v6s? i think they were only in the pickups, but i really dont know.
didnt mean to hijack your thread, verdoro, but i think or hope you figured out what manifolds you had. what were they anyway?
and i wouldn't avoid him. take Amervo's advice and have the fastest 6 cylinder this side of a turbo buick. "yes, it is only a 6. do you want to race for pink slips?"
Wow. Thanks for all the great input. I forgot to mention earlier that this is the best site ever. Looks like I have the 3 tube headers, but mine are rust colored instead of chrome! I bought my bird about 9 years ago now. It was my first car at age 16, and what a pile it was. It has come a long way, but still has much to be done. I was told the car had a 350 when I bought it. This was replaced by a 400 when I was in college. Recently found out by PHS it was a 326HO car. I need to go look at that 350 I pulled out(which is at my dads house) and see what it really is. I knew nothing about Pontiacs at the time of purchase, except they looked cool. I am now a huge Pontiac supporter. Anyway, being a Michigan rust bucket, the rear springs came through the trunk on me after installing the 400. So far, I've added new floor pans, trunk pan, rear frame rails, inner/outer wheel wells, trunk panels, front suspension, steering, etc, etc. This is ongoing, but I swear it will be back on the road this year!! Oh yeah, it was originally verdoro green, but someone painted it red!! I will have to change that also. Sorry to keep rambling, but hey you wanted to know about the car. I could go on and on...............
Ok... that all makes more sense... (Nice call Nashville) In that case when you get a chance to look at the 350/326? Check for all the usual #'s on the front pass side of the block for the stamped #'s and back by the dist. for the date code etc... and on the center port of the exhaust ports on the heads for the raised #'s. Such as 141 for a 326 H.O. head etc... If it turns out to be the 326 H.O. that would be worth redoing at some point and putting back in the car eventually!
And I'm a Verdoro Green Lover! I's would put that back to original too... if it were me that is... Lol...
Thanks for the info... we love to read about others cars as much as they like to talk about them!

I will try to find out soon what the original block and heads were and let you guys know. 1stgenbirdman, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Bjorn, that is a good one. I will tell someone that if I go back to those headers!!!
Bjourn, they might believe it.......till you turn the key, Baby!! I set off car alarms within 50 meters everytime I crank mine up! Its like a game for my kids, how many car alarms we can trip by just coasting by at idle.
Talked with your CAL friend this weekend and will take pics of that T/A here in Nashville for him, as you requested, my friend.

Oh is that it? I just thought it was all the others cars applauding (with their alarms) the Firebird as we go by... Hmmm? Now your saying John/Bjorn, it's just the 455/3" collectors on the hooker headers, into the Flowmaster Exhaust?
Naw... I like the idea that all the other cars are hoot'n and holler'n at the sight of the Bird! Lol... (what? it could happen!)
