new 69 owner here... where can i find engine /compartment detail pics? Have a 400 vert and it has been modded over the years, trying to put back to original.
my immediate need is where is that battery ground attached and how is the + cable run to the starter? (400 engine)
Both cables use he spring ring type terminal. All the repro houses sell a good reproduction. Negative cable goes to the stud on the cylinder head bolt, passenger side front. The positive cable goes down to the crossmember ahead of the oil pan, runs across the car and back to the starter alongside the oil pan. There are some small plastic loops that snap into holes in the crossmember to retain it. There is also a heavy black cloth protective sleeve over the cable for most of the way. My car is mostly unmolested, I can get some pics posted up when I get a chance. DJ

As Jim mentioned, the neg cable goes to the head bolt/stud on the passenger side front. The first pic is the bolt/stud for the neg battery cable. But the bolt/stud is in the wrong location, it should be in the second pics location.
I was a dummy when I installed the heads, and forgot the bolt/stud should have gone to the front passenger side.
thanks for the info , thats kindof what i thought. the prior owner has the ground in right spot, but rant the power over top of the engine end down the back to the starter????
One more battery question on a '69 ! Does the positive side of the battery go on the radiator side for a 350HO and the negative side go on the fender side ? also , does the negative cable run from the battery go under the heater hoses to the head ? Thanks
