I have been kicking around the idea in my head to put my car into the Cleveland AutoRama in March of 09' and wondered if anyone here has done such a thing and is it worth it.
It's only $50 to enter, but of course expenses will be much higher with all the little things to consider.
Just wondering.

I did that a few years back for the Buffalo Auto show. It was actaulyl really cool and a lot of fun. However, it really took up a lot of our time. We spent the entire evening on a Thursday for set up, stayed there ALL day Fri, Sat & Sunday. Then the removal process on Sunday night, waiting for your turn to use the ramps etc. It was very time consuming, very exhausting etc. However, it was really cool to have your car observed by so many spectators. So all in all, lots of work, lots of fun. Something I would do maybe only once... LOL
Oh yeah, when we attempted to leave Sunday night, I started the car and it left two huge black marks on the carpet from the tailpipes. They tried to bill me for the cleaning. I told them where to stick their bill!
Agree with 68 Firebird400 - Good show but you must be committed to spending the entire weekend Downtown.
Also, assuming you trailer the car, there is no place to park the trailer. And you have to unload/load on the street outside the Convention Center and drive it in/out. March=Snow, as you know, in Cleveland. Be prepared for slush and salt.
If you do go, let me know, I'm close to Downtown and could help out if you need an extra set of hands to clean.
Yeah good point G. In fact, we trailered our car to the show and actually drove it home. Beleive it or not, in March in Buffalo it was a nice clear evening on Sunday night when we left the conv. center. No snow and it had rained all w/e so the salt had been washed away. Drove her home and cleaner her up again...
If you have never done it, I would recommend putting your car in at least once. Really takes up some time, but ya get to meet some great people and hear lots of stories.
I have not had a car in since they moved it to the IX center, but have had a few cars in the “old car” downstairs section of the IX center's new car show. Whole lot easier getting in and out then the downtown location.
(Although many years ago, if it was a nice Sunday evening when they let them out, races and burnouts could be heard all over downtown )
What do you guys do about gas? The forms say the tank needs to be empty.
I think my decision has been made and I will enter it. Just means a lot of smaller items need to get taken care of this winter.
With the Microsoft rebate going on, I am ordering a few extra items tonight for the car.
Mike, I may take you up on your offer.
I'm not that far from the IX (Mentor) so getting it there is not a big deal. I have two possibilities on a trailer, so cleaning it up hopefully will not be that bad. I am not sure I will o to huge lengths to get the underside 100% clean again. I had not really considered mirrors under the car and all.
More though needs to go into all that.

Gas tanks empty? You have to be kidding me, an empty gas tank is a thousand times more dangerous than a full one. I've never heard of that for any indoor show...
