I loosely installed them before the fenders went on. It helped prevent scratching up the inners and core support as you know they are quite heavy. They were tightened by the body shop when the fenders were put back on.

We are mocking up our body and now realize the two shakers we have had in our garbage can of parts are for the front (missing the rear). These are great pics and very helpful but one thing we cant see is the very lowest bolt connection to the lower front fender. Our's seem to have quite a gap... is there a rubber bushing between that... or does it bolt directly to the fender? Thanks again for pposting the pictures!

There is a bracket for that. One of the members (RamAir John) here (and/or) on the 1st Gen list had some made a few years back. Don't know if he has any more or not.
Thanks for the follow up pictures and the diagram... excellent information! We may have to make our own brackets... bet those arent on ebay or in the catalogs.
I made the 9792482 bracket as mine was "ground off". was not to hard with a bit of 1/8" bar stock. Jim kindly provided me with that sketch back when I was there as well.
