After installing my wiper motor, my wipers want to park at 90 degrees when I hit the off switch. They sweep correctly. Is this just a matter of removing the arms and repositioning them 90 degrees? Or is the polarity reversed?
Sounds like the wiper transmission (linkage) is 180° out. As Bjorn suggested, just remove the wiper arms and reinstall them with the wiper motor parked.
Whoa. If they sweep correctly now, clocking them differently will send them into the cowl.
A couple questions:
1. Is the motor new? 2. After they are parked, can you push them and have the motor park them in the correct spot (i.e., is there a dead spot in the parking contactor)? 3. Are you sure you have the correct crank arm? '67 is different from '68-69
I had them go into to cowl the first time. I thought I had parked them correctly after rotating the transmission a couple of times.
1. The motor is used. 2. Once the electrical connection is plugged in I can't move them. I parked them by watching the sweep and positioning them at the bottom of the transmission's rotation before making the electrical connection. The sweep is correct while they're operating, they just want to park straight up. 3. I think the motor came off my other 69. I had two motors at one time and one didn't work.
