I would like some 50's (60's?) retro decor in a rec room. I think it would be fun to have a black/white checkered floor with the 50's diner look and a milkshake bar (for more than just milkshakes). The furniture would have to be comfortable and I wouldn't want sharp edges on anything. I could see a grill table or shelf and a taillight couch in there. I don't think I would want this kind of furniture in my living room or office though. I can see how a car shop could have some racing chairs. Hmmm, might be a problem there if employees decide to race their office chairs around...lol.
Bjorn, I thought about becoming an architect in my teens. I looked a little bit into it. I can see your point. I have a wide variety of tastes from the old to the new. One of the biggest problems I have is making decisions on what I want because I like alot of things...lol.

thats the reason its hard for Architects to design their own homes... 1) they want to show clients what they can do...which taste to go with? 2)when you are an Architect , you see soooo much neat stuff, others designs ,yours , but to get it all in...impossible...and hard to choose...lol

I also was going to be an architect. Then I decided to shoot for a little lower on the totem pole and became a structural engineer. Now I own my own firm and 70% of my work is for architects.

My son has just been accepted into the Architecture program at UW Milwaukee. He'll start next year.
John, he better be prepared for long nights...Architecture requires a lot of long hours...I have two friends that are Lawyers that wanted to become architects ,but said it was TOO much work...lol
but Architectuire is fun ,more so than law, but it doesnt pay as well....but if you have fun while working ,its worth the lesser income!

Ha, I too went into the architectural field first, started out as a detail draftsman and spec writer, (you know back when we drew with drawing boards and drafting arms) was going to go the full route, then was offered work with a large engineering firm, ended up going the structural eng route...and am a partner in my own business now.
I had more interest in how things went together than the aesthetic aspect!
Besides, moneys better and engineers party harder LOL.....
Now I see why we have such good taste in automobiles

That makes two of us. So how many other's are on this site that are in the structural field? And we both ended up with red/black '68's.

Thats right and near idendical R/B's too...LOL...must be from our propensity to mark up architects drawings with the red pen on their nice blackline drawings....
