I am in the process of installing the pertronix set up in my '67 400 vert. The flame thrower coil is 1.5 ohms. The instructions state that if there is a resistor installed it should be removed. I took a voltage reading across the coil and wasn't reading a full 12 volts so there must be a resistor on the + side. Anyone know where it is supposed to be? I'm not too bright, but I can't see anything obvious. I am running a completely stock ignition system and distributor.
I think Scott's right about the whole wire being the resistor. I installed the pertronics system and wrestled with that ?. My 69 did not have a resistor wire. You might be able to pull the wire out of the harness and replace it with a high temp wire spliced at the fire wall block. All you need is 12 volts from the ignition. Pete
There is 2 wires on the pos side at coil. The resistance wire is fed from the R side at the starter solenoid and runs to the coil. Mine has resistance wrote on the wire.
