CASH-strapped General Motors is auctioning off more than 200 of its historic and most unique cars, including a Cadillac made for Pope John Paul II and a presidential limousine replica used in several films.

I hope they go to a good home or another museum takes them in.

maybe they will go somewhere they can be enjoyed by the general public.i dont think 5 million is going to save gm

Even if they get 10M it's a drop in the bucket.....sounds more like a PR move....enabling them to direct attention from their fleet of Learjets...

At least they'd be selling something. If there aren't selling cars how are they going to pay the money back in March?

I don't recall seeing the Blackhawk before. That is beautiful!!

I bet the sale is the result of a management edict to every organization to trim costs and underutilized assets. It's only a few $mil from that org but part of the pruning of hundreds of orgs. It is just more visible.

I guess that some of the CEO's will make bonus this year!

A large mature company with no examples of its heritage will be pretty bad. I would sell the jets and some buildings.

But if I had a bunch of cash to spend, I would be bidding on the 69 Trans Am.

They have a thousand or so cars. Selling the bottom 20% will leave the best 80%.

I still have the promo card from the guys passing them out at Woodward Dream Cruise some years ago. It sounded very very cool. It was a 455 Buick engine. I'll post the card and info in a bit. Interesting read.
