Take a look at the RARE 3". My 2.5" 'X' system is nice but very tight. It sounds great with twin Goerlich's. I'm thinking I should have gone with the transverse muffler. The duel set up has a lot of resonance at certain speeds.
If you do a transverse muffler will you be defeating the purpose of having 3" pipes? I went with a 2.5" stainless Magnaflow kit with the x pipe. Cost around $500. I have 2.5" long branch manifolds instead of headers so I had to have head pipes made. Has a nice sound.
I too will be looking for a new exhaust system in the near future. One I get my four wheel disc set up installed. I'd like to go with a tranverse muffler as well but people claim you loose considerable amount of overall performance etc.
I currently have 2-1/2" pipe front to back w/LBMs, H-pipe, two 40 series flowmasters and "f" pipe splitters. Mine was done almost 9 years ago now when I lived in CA and cost me $550 and has held up flawlessly going on it's 9th year now...
