its time to replace my old rusted chrome windshield header molding I have a 68 convert and I took the screws out but it wouldn't come off? I looked inside it and there seems to be some kind of sealant under it where it meets the windshield!!!! So should I just pry it and try it rip it off lol? Please help! thanks
Others have experienced the same thing. They are hard to get off. If you're replacing them with after market, you'll find they won't fit like the factory pieces.
Hi, I carefully used a heat gun to soften the hold of the adhesive. Working from the center a little at a time toward the outside. Gentle prying! You have to respect the heat and what it can do to glass and weatherstripping. Someone else may have a better solution. Definitely try to keep your originals. Jeff
I did't remove mine, but I would be careful around it. A quick temperature change could crack it. Unfortunately, I have found from experience, that heat guns and torches always need to be treated with respect. Good luck, Jeff
