The left Brake lights do not work..Right side does. Looking at the wiring, the green wire runs to the right side and has good signal (they work!). How does the left side get fed? What color wire? Thanks!
Your brake lights run through your turn signal swicth I would start there, using a test lite. you have two wires feeding your brake lites, one for each side.
nofun..How about this--I also have some problems with my left blinker. I have to put pressure on the blinker lever in order to make the front blinker light work. Could this defective switch be causing the brake problem?
Ok...got it. Thanks guys. It was in the blinker switch. Remove the steering wheel, and the three phillips screws holding in the switch..and also take off the blinker arm. Then, GENTLY remove the blinker switch...don't try to pry it out or angle it. There is a small pin on the back that holds the unit stable when turning on the blinker. I know becuase I broke it. Anyway, the terminals were corroded. Cleaned them and bang..it works. The large brown wire feeds 12 volts into the switch. There is a black wire with a yellow streak that feeds the left brake light---then turns to yellow after the terminal connection under the dash. The darker green feeds the right. Hope this helps others. BTW...the switch works fine dispite me breaking off the small stabalizer pole.
Thanks for sharing, popptj. I'm having signal problems as well. I think it's the ground but need to see if I have the same corrosion issues as you did.
Doing hand signals out the window is so uncool.

I had a very difficult time tracking down my brake and turn signal problems. In the end, it did turn out to be the turn signal switch. They are relatively inexpensive to replace.
