Took the plunge after some number crunching. Going to refinance the house, save $180 a month, changed insurance, saved $490 a year, paid off all credit cards.
When I changed to State Farm, I asked to have the Camaro quoted so I could review Monday when switching everything else over. I had already decided not to buy if the rates were as previously quoted online from $130-147 a month. I was suprised to see $68 a month for the SS.
I then went back to the dealer and played hard ball. My friend is the body shop manager and knows I don't like hedging and BS, so I spoke with Mike in sales. Told him I would order a Camaro for GM family pricing, or roughly $2300 below MSRP including options. He hesitantly agreed, the purchase is contingent on written agreement. GM hasn't finalized whether family pricing is available for the Camaro, but we also agreed on MSRP for the base and dealer cost for options which is roughly $1100 below MSRP. Either way, the Trans Am will not be making a comeback, so its' twin brother is the alternative.
Ordered the 2SS in Inferno Orange metallic (Thinking black/orange stripes, have 3 weeks to change) LS3 420 HP MNX6 Tremec 6 speed Black stripe option RS Option W1H Trim Option Short Throw Hurst Shifter
Seen the final model on the 19th at the NAIAS. The red circular halo headlights and the RS option looked nice. I should be getting the car at just around $32,480.
Maybe next year for the 68....

Can't wait for some photos and a driving impression.
I was very surprised yesterday to see a Challenger on the commercial for Dodge's "Employee Pricing Plus Plus". It was not excluded in the fine print.
Those early buyers are kicking themselves now!
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
I told the salesman I would not pay a penny over MSRP, nor pay full price for the car, as listed without dealer/GM employee option pricing. Also made known I did not need this years model to be the first on the block and acted so.
I refrained from ordering October 13th due to the fact dealers were adding the "addendum" sticker, or a holdback of anywhere from $1500-5000 to the MSRP. So many people were signing contracts for the same car for upwards of $6000 more. Now since 11,000 cars have been ordered, dealers have seen a slowdown. GM now realizes that they need to sell what they can reasonably.
I'll be playing hardball on price until the car is at the dealer. I am willing to tread to 33k, but no more.

Unbelieveble what the price difference is between those cars here & there.. Here they go for no less them 60.000 EUROS. A lot of tax is raised on high gas consuming cars like this
This is not happening around here. The dealers wont budge on the Challengers and there is a GTO in FLA a used car that the internet guy is using EBay as a greedy alternative. If his listing expires and he calls me I'm going to lower my offer. If he can be greedy so can I. He says the beauty of EBay. LOL

I am very interested to see how the Camaro sells in this economy and more mileage conscious world after all the crazed "Gotta have it" sales slack off. Especially now that there are 3 "pony" cars again sharing a market where Ford never exceeded 150,000 units.
Ford did not really raise the bar for 2010 as both the GT and V6 are significally underpowered compared to comparable Camaro's and, IMO, the 2010 Mustang styling is worse than the outgoing model.
The new Mustang model was rushed to market to deal with the Challenger and Camaro and the new 400 hp 5.0 liter V8 won't be available until MY 2011.

why don't you order me one while you are at it mr money bags?lol
Well, the T/A sucks down fuel and is 315 HP and 18-19 mpg with easy driving. The Camaro is 430 HP and reported to get 23 mpg. Between Camaro and the motorcycle, average will be 35 mpg. Plan on using both in summer and maybe buy a Festiva for winter.
The V6 Camaro will have similar HP ratings as the V8 Mustang and only 15 HP less than my T/A..go figure.
Terry..
Was anticipating buying a Pontiac Solstice since 2004 and held off the first year in anticipation of the GXP supercharged version in 07. Took car for a ride and was not, to me worth $32700 plus dealer add on for the GXP.
Needless to say, in around that timeframe, Chevy says they will build the Camaro..I decided that, for the money, the Camaro won.

....And factor in one or two skateboard trips to work in summer, your average MPG might approach 40....

I can't think of doing that especially in this economical-challenged time! Send some updates and bring it to Panama City Beach and we'll cruz-da-strip!!
I'd rather see a rust bucket on the road, than a garage queen anytime!!
Funny Tom,,,,, I just ordered my new 2010 Camaro on Monday!!!! Just posted a pic a few min's ago. Great minds think alike I went with a 2LT though. Daily driver and I didnt want to deal with a 400HP car in the winter, plus I wanted to save on gas a bit. Went with the following: 2LT [Leather, heated seats, Nav system, 4 pack gauges, etc...] - Direct Injected [11:1 CR] V6 - 304HP 6 speed auto w/ paddle shifters Victory Red RS Polished Rims #1 [and only] Allocation for a V6 @ Carroll Chevy in Crown Point. They have a total of 7 allocations with only 5 on the books. 4 2SS's and my 2LT.
Do you know about this website? Lots of good info in the forums here. Im in there as BLACK SUNSHINE www.camaro5.com
I have access to the GM Launch Website, IM me if you dont have access already and want the site address and access code.
That's pretty funny Greg. LOL I will do just that for balance! Ive been around, just not posting much. I drop in from time to time to see what's shakin. Everything is going well. I also have a new position within the company which doesnt allow for much play time. I am running our Peoria, St. Louis and Kansas City operations so its hell. Plus, I have a 4 year old boy and 1 year old girl that keep my hands full. Just busy. How is everything on your front? Hope all is well.
I cannot wait for the new toy. I will take some pic's with the bird and Maro together whenever it comes in.

Glad to hear you refinanced the house and saving a $180/month. I've used State Farm and they seem to carry the cheapest rates on car insurance. I hope everything works out with the deal and you have some fun in the Camaro. Now if they would only come out with a new Firebird...
