My wife and I have owned a '76 Camaro, '80 BMW 320i, '84 200SX, '86 Accord, '89 Legend, '93 Crown Vic, '93 Villager, '99 Towncar, 2004 Expedition, and my current daily driver.
The least quality of these is the Ford Expedition. Rear end problems, several front tire issues, leather seats cracking, rust on top,...rattles... Next would be the Mercury Villager...rear A/C went out, exhaust manifold bolts broke, interior parts started to brake prematurely, muffler wore out early, ...then would be the Crown Vic: Emergency brake broke within 1 week, torque convertor out in 40,000 miles...
Anyone seeing a trend here?

1984 Ford Tempo. I'm embarrassed to even admit owning one. The driving school I was working for at the time (owner/instructor) insisted that everyone have the same vehicle. Pathetic (almost dangerous) handling, no power (0-60 in 22 seconds - slower than my non-turbo diesel Benz by 3 seconds!), mediocre fuel economy, lousy seats, ignition module failed before I even got home from the dealership, upper strut bushings popping, exhaust system recall, needle valve in the carb stuck, front end structure was so weak that the "subframe" would flex and allow the tire to tuck under during cornering - the list is long.
This is the car that Jackie Stewart refused to drive on dry pavement for the commercials. I spit on all Tempos.
My '88 Legend with the 5-speed was one of the nicest sounding cars to run through the gears that I've owned. 0-60 in 8.4 seconds and 30 mpg from 2.7 liters. Everything the Tempo wasn't.
I've only owned a couple of Fords in my life, and for the most part, they were OK. I had a 1970 LTD, and two '76 Rustang Cobra's.
The worst car I ever owned was a '91 Chevrolet Lumina Eurosport.
At 29k the driver's power window went out. At 30k the sunroof started leaking like a sieve. At 35k the transmission went out as I was backing out of my garage. They wanted $2300 for a rebuilt tranny. I had to argue with them about their 36k "warranty" for almost a month (while without a car). I had to talk to three people in Detroit until they finally honored their drivetrain warranty.
At 36.1k I sold the car.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe. 1968 400 convertible (Scarlet) 1976 T/A - 455 LE (No Burt) 1976 T/A New baby, starting full restoration. 1968 350 - 4 speed 'vert - 400 clone (the Beast!) 1968 350 convertible - Wife's car now- 400 clone (Aleutian Blue) (Blue Angel) 2008 Durango - DD 2008 GXP - New one from NH is AWESOME! 2017 Durango Citadel - Modern is nice! HEMI is amazing! 1998 Silverado Z71 - Father-daughter project 1968 400 coupe - R/A clone (Blue Pearl) (sold) 1967 326 convertible - Sold 1980 T/A SE Bandit - Sold
My wife had a villiager, actually it was a pretty decent minivan (due to the Nissan Maxima drivetrain) It had plenty of get up and go, no problems with the rear ac etc...sold it a few years ago to the wifes coworker at about 120,000 miles...and its still running. I love my ford trucks, but I did own a new 95 Exploder...and it went thru brakes faster than I could put em on. Other than that it was fine.
Having said that, my current 07 F150 Lariat must have been built on a Tuesday after a long weekend....2000 miles, it slowly died on a mountain pass...took em 2 weeks to figure it out...completely plugged catalytic convertor...must have been dropped at the plant.
Lots of rattles that had to be worked out including a new headliner...solenoid in the 4wd had a mind of its own...they kept telling me they couldn't diplicate the problem at the service place so they could not fix it....last month I was at the counter because climate control went weird, and the guy next to me had the identical truck, color etc and everything, complaining of the same sporadic clunk...so I told the service advisor, when you find out whats wrong with his, do the same to mine...they did and its OK now...LOL...idiots!
I'm off basic warranty now at 60,000km....so I hope thats the last of the issues...

Had a 84 Renault Fuego. Piece of sheet. Brakes every 10k. Air Conditioner(31k) and Radiator went @ 37,000. Lost the master cylinder (40k) coming of the highway at 60mph the day after a 6 inch snow fall. Found the traffic light island where all the snow was plowed and hit it at 40. Jumped through the snow drift, up the island, back down and through the drift on the other side. Towed it home and there it sat for 6 months before I sold it for $500.00. Never ever buy, borrow, or drive another one for as long as I live (which I thought would be cut short that day)!
2nd worst car was a 75 Ford LTD. Worst car was a 78 VW Rabbit.
By the way, the one thing you have to admire about Ford is that they at least have the courtesy to point out the problem for their customers by putting a circle around it.

HA! My worst was a 1976 Ford LTD. As many will recall 75-77 saw a whole lot of bad steel used in Detroit vehicles. I live in NE Ohio, salt territory. It was a Flintstone mobile, when it ran. Leaking gas tank, trashed interior, leaks everywhere. But it did have power. 351 Winsor motor.

The night I brought it home, the transmission drained itself in my garage. It seems they left out a bushing that goes between the transmission case and a half shaft. They gave me a Caprice to drive while they worked on it.
At 12,000 miles the dash pad separated from the dash and the rear struts started clunking. GM fixed it.
At 27,000 miles it needed brakes (turn rotors and pads).
Around that time the windshield cracked in the wintertime when driving on a bumpy brick road.
At 28,000 miles the CRANKSHAFT BROKE IN HALF. It snapped at a main bearing journal. The dealer had a shortblock in stock and got the car back to me in two days. They tried to charge me for oil and a filter. I did not pay.
I'll agree with the last. My brother had a '74 Mustang II with the 2.3 l 4 cylinder and an auto tranny. That thing could not get out of it's own way. It was scary.
Sorry, but my '06 Mustang V6 is the most reliable car I have ever owned. Must be the German engine. My '83 BMW 320 (Euro spec) is now #2.

Old ford van 6 cylinder don't even remember what year it was. Wanted it because gas prices were going up. Traded a gold 69 GTO 4 speed 400 that was in like new condition for it. Spent all my time trying to keep that junk van running. A tear runs down my face every time I think about letting go of that GTO. This was many years ago but it still hurts.
worst nightmare of my life was a datsun.i hated jap cars ever since.it ate tires faster than gas and nobody could fix the dang thisg.bought it new and i drove it to canada and told them that i am not paying for this pos and their car was in canada.go get it.went through a set of tires driving it from ft.laud,fl to fort erie canada
I never owned a Ford. All GM except for my Nissan. My worst is between the '82 Nissan Sentra and an '87 Grand Am. The Nissan engine was reliable and great on gas. It just sucked in the winter. The windows wouldn't defrost, the door latches would jam, and occasionally the fuel line froze. The '87 Grand Am 2.5L started out fine, rode nice, and great gas mileage. Then it started seeping oil through the valve covers. I had that redone a couple of times. I can't remember what all went wrong with it but it seemed like it was one thing or another. Finally the cam went out on it. That was the end of it for me. In the end the price I paid for the car only ended up costing me $400. It got slight hail damage and insurance reimbursement pretty much paid for the car.

My worst car was a very nice looking used Mercedes 180...owned by a female school teacher , well kept...a 56 model, I bought it in 1968...it lasted 3 hours , then ceased...

I doubt I will ever buy another Ford.

I've only owned one but my F250 has over 200,000 miles on it with original everything (I've had the heads rebuilt). It's been a great truck.
Back a long while ago I had a 1970 Chrysler New Yorker with no reverse. It wasn't really a bad car (for $150.00) but I had to park on a slope (so I could coast backwards into someone's driveway). Those were the days.
I'm confused. Are you referring to the car or the school teacher here?
Me too. I feel there is a juicy story lurking there.

I'd rather see a rust bucket on the road, than a garage queen anytime!!
Gee, I'm on my 9th Ford. Have had excellent luck with all of them. Had a 92 Explorer up to 100,000 miles, no issues. Sold it to my brother and he put another 50,000 miles with no issues before he sold it. Have a 97 Explorer now and a 2007 Ford Fusion. I like both of them. Until they start letting me down, I'll keep buying them.
Yes, I had a K car or three. The K car was a much better car than most people give it credit for. I thrashed my almost new '82 Reliant with the heavy duty suspension around the local track for four hours, keeping up with Alfas, race prepped Datsuns, Trans Ams and Corvettes. It was a very tough car. Sure it had some rattles but it handled well, had decent power and fuel economy and was great in snow.
I had fun with a Toyota Celica with my '81 Reliant station wagon with the 4 on the floor while climbing through the mountains. One particularly steep hill had him shifting back and forth trying to keep up with me while I held third gear and gradually drove away. Of course I did install the "G" head, ported, with the right intake, prepped carb and recurved distributor.
The K car platform was used for the Caravan. Pretty successful line!
Striped down, baby puke green "K" cars were the mainstay of the Gov vehicle fleet when I was in Germany. Although they had decals all over them about how we weren't supposed to go over 55 mph in them, we drove them pedal to the floor for hours on the Autobahns. We treated them pretty badly.
One co-worker, a British citizen, once made the comment about how well they stood up to the abuse.

"by a female school teacher , well kept...a 56 model, I bought it in 1968..."....my mistake...the car...the teacher would have been too young in 1968...12 yrs old...under my age limit! lol
My second car after a 57 cheby, was a Valiant slant 6. Now that was a great car! lots of get up n go for a 6, sold it to my Bro with 180,000 miles, he parked it in the garage at 220,000, ran great but was starting to burn oil....started it 8 years later to have it towed away....started right up with a temp battery.

I've got a '99 Toyota Tacoma with a few dents and dings, but not a thing wrong with it. It's been paid off for a long time, and the deal with my wife is that I can get a new truck (another Tacoma) after I've run this one into the ground. Unfortunately for me, that day doesn't look like it's coming for a long time.
