Putting my 68 convertible back together. I added RARE Long Branch manifolds and the RARE oil filter extension....
I am getting ready to buy an oil pressure switch and I am wondering if anyone else runs the Long Branches with the oil filter adapter and uses the stock switch? (sending unit) Looks like a tight fit, so I thought I would gather opinions.
My filter neck has what appears to be an air valve on it. Looks just like the tip of a valve stem. Anybody else have that or know if it is stock?
Thanks in advance for your time....gotta love this site! PV

I am also using RARE LBMs along with their oil filter adapter as well as a stock sending unit for stock rally gauges. You are supposed to use a brass 45* elbow. This will put the sending unit at the correct angle for proper clearence.
Hey 68 and Phil, the above photo shows the GTO oil filter bracket that tilts the filter in towards the motor and has the sender hold facing aft. The correct firebird bracket will work better. It points the filter at a 90deg angle and has the sender hole facing towards the passenger side. A regular oil filter won't work with the setup shown above and you have to deal with the sender/firewall clearance issue. I had the same problems and people here set me straight on the filter bracket. My setup is below.
I guess I didn't realize that, however, I do use a regular filter and have no problem at all removing or installing when when changing. There is also no clearence issue with the sending unit either...
Oh wait, after looking at my own pics, I see that I did in fact end up switching to the one Bob S has, if you notice in the top pic I have the correct oil filter housing, in the second pic I still had the incorrect housing. LOL Thought I was losing my mind!
