Hey Jim, on yours thats smaller. Is there a form number on the front? The repo I have says "Form 520" (lower left corner.)
No form number on mine, although a small part is gone from it. There may not be room for a number. (FYI: The scanner must have enhanced the blue ink on the form. It is much more light/faded in the real thing.) Check out the difference in borders of the repros and mine.
Also note that the typeface was applied with what might have been a worn mechanical printer. Many letters are cut off or worn in areas.
I took the base .jpg of the form, opened it in Paintshop Pro, enhanced it a bit and then typed directly on to the image in PSPro. I printed it then ran it thru the inkjet again with a yellowed crinkled paper background and it looks pretty good. Jim, as I am using PSP to do the image I could easily fade out some of the letters simulating a worn printer!
I looked at the Cambria font Stealth, but it looks more like a Times font....

Well, I was able to put the form into Corel and turn it into an actual form-fill-in type document. You can tab from one form field to the other and just enter in your data and presto, all on one sheet, bing bang boom! Looks and prints awesome. Now I just have to play with the fonts...
sorry , I`ve been trying many times, but nobody seems to have thecorrect change for it... usually it gets good laughs , but sometimes....lol..
at a bank once I tried , the young female teller said :"Wow, I didnt know they made bills that large".... I had to tell her....(at a BANK!)
the opposite happens too (but only once!)..I was with my buddy Andy at a Sandwich shop for lunch...the guy gave us our bag ,said :"that will be $9.85".... I showed him the bill and said :"do you have change"? he goes (without changing his stern facial epression : "that will be $9.85".....
It's also interesting to note the slight variances I see sometimes between an original sticker and a repro sticker. For instance, the original window stickers (for Firebirds at least) do not use a thousands notation, so "4,963.25" appears as "4963.25". But on some GTO window stickers Pontiac used the thousands notation. Perhaps they omitted the thousands comma on the Firebird window stickers to save space due to the smaller form, I'm not sure.
Also, some of the original window stickers have the VIN prefix and serial number in the same font, while others have the last 6 digits in a completely different font, crooked, etc., like what was shown above. Doesn't seem to matter whether it was Lordstown or Van Nuys, I've found examples from each plant. So I'm not sure why there were such discrepancies.
One of the hardest things to duplicate though is the comma used in the dealer's name, city, etc. The comma used up there is always very thick, and is about half the height of the rest of the letters.
Yeah there are a lot of inconsistantcies(s) but I guess without the use of PC/computers back in the day there would be. I don't really care as I am not trying to pass mine off as being authentic, I just think it makes for a really cool display item.
And now that I have the correct RPO numbers and pricing it makes it even nicer. Tell you the truth I just enjoy doing this stuff and with my uncertain future with my vision etc. I am doing as much as possible for now. Latest version before changing the font:
That would be a deal... for you! You might want to wait until I get the four wheel disc, tilt wheel, power window and all new door panels installed. Then, you might as wait for her to be painted Vedoro Green, then you can have her ok? LOL
Keep in mind my car did not come with all those options but I have gone out of my way to round up as many OEM options, parts & pieces as I can.
The long list is coming to an end as I have the disc conv. parts so I am down to a tilt wheel and power window setup. I'll have my red lines at the end of this month from the Spring Daytona Speedway Car Show!
I am begining to see light at the end of the tunnel. I'd make a vision joke right now but my wife gets mad at me when I do that and she is my proxy typist most of the time...
Will the window sticker for the 68 be the same for the 67. If so can you PM a copy to me at: pontiac@broadpark.no Even if it`s not original to my car, can i have one hi res.copy.
