If you've read my last post I bought a block, picking up next weekend (and apparently get to sight see Washington DC while I am at it, any politicians you want me to yell at while I am there?...lol)
I have been out looking for a engine stand to hold the thing in the garage, whats the weight limit I need? 1/2 ton, 1 ton?
And what size bolts do I need to hold this thing on there. I know the depth of the brackets will determine overall lenght of the bolts but what is the thread size? Grade 8 I assume? How deep into the block do they thread?
Thanks all...as you can see my post count is going to rise as soon as I get this thing home!
Harbor Freight sells a U-shaped base engine stand - probably 1250 Lbs, which is way more than you need. Don't get the "one leg" engine stand.
The bolts are 3/8-16 (coarse thread) and should thread into the block at least 1/2 inch. Grade 8 are fine, but 5 is enough. Home Depot bolts are Grade 2 and will work fine as well, just don't over-torque them.
