I am wondering if the guy I bought this car from welded in the trunk pan wrong or if I am missing something. The car is a 69 and came with two new braces. If you fit them up to the new floor that the previous owner intalled it looks like I am at least two inches short for them to reach the back tail panel. Looking at pictures on the internet it looks like the braces are attached to the rear panel and then spot/plug welded to the floor. Am I looking at redoing the floor? I can take some pictures if it helps.
Different re-pop companys make parts with varying accuracy. You may have inaccurate braces or a poor fitting trunk pan. You may need to "entice" the brace a bit. or add something onto the other end.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I ran into the same problem (although not as bad as yours.) To me it was combination of poorly stamped repo parts. The trunk floor curve was off a little and I thinnk it wasn't as far back as it should have been, plus the repo tank brackets curve isn't the same as the trunk floor. Also make sure you have 69 gas tank brackets, the 67/68 ones are different.
