I got an e-mail response back from EarlyBirds in Toronto today who told me "should be in the next couple months" I sure hope so, I was going to fix my old one but it is in really bad shape. There's a local guy here who has half a dozen 69 parts cars but wants a fortune for even a marginal tailpanel.
If I can't get something closer to home in the next couple of months I will give Terry a call. I imagine shipping from Florida to Alberta for a panel that size must be pricey.
Funny, I was just reading on the 69 tail panels from the Part's place. Last spring they were supposed to be out, and they are still not. So we keep waiting....
Dynacorn International was supposed to have one out by now, but it was sent back for re-tooling. I can truly sympathize with you. It is a pretty common place to find rust and there is no real viable solution. Anyone with a tail panel wants more than I paid for my whole car. If your panel is solid around the tail lights and you or someone you know has metal skills you can use a 69 camaro tail panel. If you or anyone hears anything please let me know ASAP. Thanks
I was just posting on this somewhere else. Go to www.paddockparts.com - they have a 69 tail panel for $369 and say it's excellent quality...If you get this one, please let us know if it's up to par...
69 FIREBIRD TAILLIGHT PANEL 69 FIREBIRD TAILLIGHT PANEL. THIS IS A TOP QUALITY REPRODUCTION OF THE REAR BODY/TAILLIGHT PANEL FOR THE 69 FIREBIRD AND TRANS AM MODELS. MADE FROM HEAVY GAUGE STEEL, THIS PIECE IS MADE JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL. SHIPPED OVERSIZE.
I wish that someone would come up with a tail that was inexpensive and of the right quality metal for a 69. I spent hours pounding one back into shape and it still took some metal to metal to reproduce. $369 is way to much to pay for 69 tail metal. This should be priced at about $150. Hell a whole new 1/4 is $350 with quality metal.
to make the press to make the panels is about $10,000...then you got to re coup that cost....thats why they are not cheap.... I`m surprised they can do it for $369
did anyone see the '69 rear NOS quarters on Epay this morning?

I have a 69 body it has pretty much all great sheet metal but the trunk and the rear window and some minor rust in the floors. The tail pan is one of the nicest ones I have seen lately. I might be willing to cut it up for the right price? I am in no hurry to get rid of the car because I have dammage on my 69 convertable on the driversside of my tail panel but under the bondow it might be fixable. I won't be doing it until after I sell my 67 400 4 speed and my 69 pro touring bird. Let me know either way I would like to help you out if I can..
I was just at the paddock to pick up some part and asked about the 69 tail panel. The part person looked it up and they have four on order but have never received any from the supplier.
I see that Tamraz has the 69 tail panel also, but pre-selling. They must be getting close since various parts houses are now advertising? 4 that I know of.
There's one listed right now under 'parts for sale'
