Okay, I mounted the hood tach today. I am running a msd 6a ( ...zz2 crate motor) what kind of gizzmo do I need? I know there is a thingamagig that difwaffles the erotic spark multimagnification and applies electromotion flashwave hoopity pulsewidth aroused electron motion and thus the hood tach works with the msd... whazzit?
I tried it, but the conflagration feedback and erotic needle movement continued to be consistently inconsistent, and now my tach wires are not stuffed up in the loom, but hanging limp and useless.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I don't know if the hood tach signal is different( I wouldn't think so unless it's an aftermarket tach) than the rally in-dash tach or not but my original tach wire just plugged into the tach terminal on my 6al box and works fine. I say give it a try and see.
I've been through it and am comfortable in saying you will need an MSD tach adapter to get the proper signal. I still say call them so they can properly advise... In the beginning (not THAT beginning) I put a hood tach on my 'bird with my accel dual point distributor. Later in life I added the 6AL box and after it was done, I required a tach adapter for the signal. Then a couple-4 years later, when I decided to install their <MSD> electronic distributor, I had to use a different tach adapter. Whats a zz2 crate motor anyway?
