Hi folks, The "nut and bolt" struggle continues. The engine is redone and back in the car. I am trying to place the starter wire tube (there wasn't one on the car when purchased). The tube SEEMS to run between the head and the exhaust manifold. The 4 inch repop I ordered from Ames does not seem to fit (About 1/8 to 1/4 inch to wide. I could MAKE it fit, but I get the impression that there's got to be a better way. If anyone has photos or ideas, I would appreciate it. - John
PS I may be misnaming this tube, hence my lack of ability to locate it on a search.-J
Yeah, that does seem to make some difference with fitment. I wonder if they made a different one for 4sp cars. I have a couple sitting around here but it's been so long I don't remember which one was original to my car. The one on there now I had to crimp down a bit to make work.
Cat & Firebob, Thanks for the input. Luckily, Rich Plumb, a corvette guru up here in New England is running the resto, and he knows how to improvise. Ames provided me with a guide that was about 3/4" wide, straight and 4" long. As per Catalina's pic, the application calls for a bend (about 90 degrees) and there is NOT enough clearance for much more than 3/8", and then you have to contend with the z-bar pivot. Gents - your input saved a weekend of trying to put a square peg in a round hole (and WHAT IS UP WITH AMES???). I've got the first round. - John
