I have no idea why my bird won't start. Again. I checked the electric...all looks good. Battery is fine. I thought the carb wasn't getting gas, so I poured some in the carb and still nothing.

This happened the other day and after about an hour of gas, carb cleaner, and electric tests it didn't start either, but when I was calling to have it towed it started...I'm guessing magically.

Now I might have to have it towed again, but don't have any idea what the problem is. I would like to just start it to drive to the shop but can't even get it to that point.

Any ideas?

if you have an elctronic ignition you might have a bad module. or you could have a bad points condensor.

I replaced the dist. cap,rotor and wires a few months ago.

Did you replace those components for this problem or just maintenance? If the problem first started after, then double check your work.

Also, what type of ignition? electronic or standard.

electric..replaced all of those months ago and it was running fine.

Did you check to see if you have spark yet?

If no spark exists, based on your description, you probably have a defective iginition module.

All in all with our cars it is pretty basic. Is your car cranking but firing at all? Does it crank and fire but not start? Does it not crank at all?

If the car cranks but does NOT fire at all, do you have voltage at the coil? That would be the first thing to decifer. If the car cranks and no voltage at the + side of the coil then your ignition is the issue. If you have voltage on the + side of your coil and still no fire, then your points or your coil ignition box would be the issue.

Boils down to 1) power (battery or starter, 2) spark (ign switch, coil), 3) Fuel this would only be if you have the first two, power and spark

yea..not sure yet...called in the tow truck to go to the mechanic...will let ya know.
