Can anyone point me in the right direction for the A/C factory delete part that fits on the firewall of a 69 to cover up the hole? I know I saw it around on the net somewhere, but for the life of me, I can't find it now.
Also, does anyone have any experience with Vintage Air? Any good?
Finally, If I want to remove my factory A/C and move to Vintage Air, do I need that factory delete part to plug up the firewall?
Or should I stick with factory air? The only reason I hesitate is the amount of real estate that the factory air takes in the engine bay. It's difficult at BEST to work on the engine with the current A/C setup in the way.
FYI, I'm living in south central Texas, so having air is a necessity.
I had Vintage air in my Sebring that I sold 2.5 yrs ago, worked very well,a very good system...
IF you install Vintage air, they supply a delete plate... Factory air is good for "numbers match' cars....but is a pain to work w/ when you work on the engine...esp. getting to plugs no 7 and 8...
if I were you , I`d drive over to Vintage (in S.A.) and take a look , plus see if you can maybe get a better price picking it up right there...
Just so you know - the description "factory A/C delete" is not correct. There were no "A/C delete" cars built - only cars with or without A/C. If your car was built with A/C then your firewall is different than a non-A/C car. Therefore; the non-A/C heater blower motor box (commonly listed on eBay as "A/C delete box") will not fit on your A/C car.
You would have to modify the firewall to fit the non-A/C heater blower box. If you are considering installing a Vintage Air kit, I would call them and ask their advise since it appears your car is an A/C car.
Thats very true what Tom says , I forgot about that issue...I looked at Vintages website to see if if they have a delete for a/c cars.....it states there under Pontiac , Firebird : "for non a/c cars only"
so you might call and ask them what to do if you convert from an a/c car.....maybe your`e just stuck w that factory air..... just dont 'whine' when you change plugs... or call Jim for help! lol
I'd say stick with factory AC because I like originality when a car hasn't already been hacked up.
But, if you decide to go away from the original system I'd love to buy your AC muffler if you still have it on your car...mine is missing and I need one. Please let me know.
